Dexter Cattle
Our Cattle get the best of the best here at Sweet Briar Farm! In the summer they graze on pasture and eat any spare veggies we have, and in the winter they have access to high quality hay and supplemental grain. Our herd consists of purebred Dexter cattle, with the exception of our one Jersey cow. We chose Dexters for our herd because they are dual purpose, meaning they are used for milk and beef, also because they are hearty, requiring much less hands on or veterinary care. Dexters are also one of the smallest standard breeds of cattle, making them easier to handle than most larger cattle breeds. The Bulls are known to be docile and easy keepers.
